Al-dweri Feras <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En este trabajo se ha estudiado la dosimetr\u00eda del leksell gamma knife(r), una unidad de radiaci\u00f3n utilizada para la realizaci\u00f3n de intervenciones intracraneales de radiocirug\u00eda. Este instrumento se basa en la utilizaci\u00f3n de 201 fuentes de 60co dispuestas de forma tal que es posible impatir una dosis de radiaci\u00f3n elevada a la zona de tratamiento, reduciendo considerablemente la irradiaci\u00f3n de las zonas adyacentes.  en este trabajo hemos hecho uso del c\u00f3digo de simulaci\u00f3n monte carlo penelope (versi\u00f3n 2001). La geometr\u00eda real se ha simplificado a fin de poder generarla mediante el paquete geom\u00e9trico del propio c\u00f3digo.  en primer lugar hemos analizado el comportamiento de una fuente individual, estudiando el \u00e1ngulo efectivo de emisi\u00f3n, variable crucial a la hora de la realizaci\u00f3n de las simulaciones. Hemos determinado que este \u00e1ngulo resulta ser mucho menor que el considerado anteriormente por otros autores. En particular, un valor m\u00e1ximo de unos 3\u00c2\u00ba es suficiente para describier correctamente la dosimetr\u00eda en el maniqu\u00ed que simula al paciente.  las correlaciones de las distintas variables de inter\u00e9s resultan ser de gran importancia. Cabe destacar las fuertes correlaciones existentes, por un lado, entre la distancia al eje del haz y el \u00e1ngulo 0 de salida en las distintas etapas de colimaci\u00f3n y, por otro, entre la posici\u00f3n (x,y) en dichas etapas y el \u00e1ngulo acimutal  a la salida de las mismas.  en base a los resultados obtenidos para la fuente individual, hemos simplificado la geometr\u00eda de \u00e9sta y hemos comprobado la fiabilidad de dicha simplificaci\u00f3n. Cabe resaltar que el resultado del complejo sistema de colimaci\u00f3n de las fuentes del gamma knife(r) puede describirse en t\u00e9rminos de una fuente puntual, situada en el centro del n\u00facleo activo de la fuente real, que emite fotones is\u00f3tropamente, en un cono de apertura igual a la de los colimadores finales de los cascos de tratamiento.
