El estudio de estas variaciones es importante por sus implicaciones en un mejor conocimiento del ciclo solar, as\u00ed como en el clima terrestre. En el trabajo se han empleado \u00edntegramente datos aportados por el observatorio solar espacial soho (en particular de los instrumentos virgo y mdi), el cual puede estudiar el sol de forma ininterrumpida.  las variaciones producidas en la escala temporal de una rotaci\u00f3n solar son debidas al paso de regiones activas por el disco solar, mientras que el origen de las variaciones observadas en la irradiancia en la escala del ciclo solar es incierto. La contribuci\u00f3n a estas variaciones de los peque\u00f1os elementos magn\u00e9ticos brillantes que componen las f\u00e1culas y el ret\u00edculo magn\u00e9tico es objeto de un importante debate. El problema radica en que tanto su identificaci\u00f3n como la medida de su contraste son dif\u00edciles, pero imprescindibles para conocer la variaci\u00f3n centro-limbo de su contraste y por tanto su contribuci\u00f3n a las variaciones de la irradiancia solar a largo plazo.  en esta tesis se ha estudiado la contribuci\u00f3n de las peque\u00f1as estructuras magn\u00e9ticas que tienen una contribuci\u00f3n positiva a la variabilidad, tanto a corto como a largo plazo. Se ha determinado la variaci\u00f3n producida en la luminosidad solar debida a la presencia de una regi\u00f3n activa aislada durante el m\u00ednimo de actividad de 1996. Tambi\u00e9n se ha combinado simult\u00e1neamente datos fotom\u00e9tricos y magn\u00e9ticos para analizar el contraste de las peque\u00f1as estructuras y su dependencia con la posici\u00f3n, el campo magn\u00e9tico y su evoluci\u00f3n a lo largo del ciclo solar 23.  el estudio de la variabilidad solar ha requerido la reducci\u00f3n y el an\u00e1lisis de los datos empleados para su conversi\u00f3n
