Se ha analizado la calcemia; calcitoninenia y la poblacion de celulas productoras de calcitonina. Los resultados demuestran la efectividad del metodo como procedimiento hipercalcemiante. Tambien manifiestan el estancamiento en la produccion de calcitonina, asi como un descenso de la proporcion de celulas c o parafoliculares del tiroides.  estos hallazgos se detectan desde el primer mes de tratamiento con vitamina d3 exclusivamente y tras tres meses de tratamiento con vitamina d3 y cloruro calcico.  ultraestructuralmente se correlaciona con degranulacion
