Estas condiciones adecuadas lo hacen potencialmente capaces de producir dichas reacci\u00f3n de activaci\u00f3n c-h\/funcionalizaci\u00f3n.  se ha observado como las dificultades en la activaci\u00f3n de peque\u00f1as mol\u00e9culas por parte de complejos dinucleares poco polares de iridio(i) son salvadas mediante su oxidaci\u00f3n parcial o con la simple coordinaci\u00f3n de un ligando como por ejemplo alquinos. De este modo se han obtenido complejos capaces de activar peque\u00f1as mol\u00e9culas como hidr\u00f3geno, fenilacetileno, sulfuro de hidr\u00f3geno e incluso agua.  en el estudio de complejos dinucleares electrof\u00edlicos de iridio(iii) hemos puesto de manifiesto como opera la transmisi\u00f3n de efecto e influencia trans a lo largo de las mol\u00e9culas.
