Este objetivo requiere, por una parte, dotar a la levadura de la capacidad enzimatica para hidrolizar los b-glicosidos y por otra parte, solventar su incapacidad de permear estos azucares. Para dotar a saccharomyces de la capacidad hidrolitica, le hemos transferido los genes bgla y bglb de b. Polymyxa, que codifican dos b-glucosidasas, expresados bajo control de un promotor inducible por galactosa. Tambien se ha estudiado la influencia de la ploidia sobre la expresion de bgla. Para resolver el problema de la permeabilidad se han seguido dos aproximaciones distintas: intentar la secrecion del enzima, fusionando su secuencia codificadora con una secuencia se\u00f1al de la levadura, y expresar en saccharomyces el gen lac12 de otra levadura, k.
