Las poliqu\u00e9tidos sintasas tipo i y tipo ii (shen, 2003) as\u00ed como las p\u00e9ptido sintetasas (nrps) (schwarer et al., 2003) han sido intensamente descritas como responsables de la s\u00edntesis de una amplia diversidad de productos naturales en microorganismos (actinomicetos, myxobacterias, cianobacterias y hongos filamentos). Estos metabolitos incluyen, entre otros: antibi\u00f3ticos, antif\u00fagnicos, antihelm\u00edticos, agentes antitumorales y agentes inmunosupresores (walsh, 2003).  con objeto de explorar la presencia y distribuci\u00f3n de estos sistemas biosint\u00e9ticos en actinomicetos, se han dise\u00f1ado parejas de oligonucle\u00f3tidos espec\u00edficos de secuencias nrps, pks-i y pks-ii que permiten una r\u00e1pida detecci\u00f3n de dichos sistemas biosint\u00e9ticos en actinomicetos. Estas herramientas han sido validadas en cepas de referencia. Se han encontrado 21 secuencias nuevas de sistemas pks-i en streptomyces hygroscopicus nrrl 5491, 1 nueva secuencia de sistemas pks-i en streptomyces sp. Ma5969 y 15 nuevas secuencias de sistemas nrps en amycolatopsis lactamdurans nrrl 3802. Los oligonucle\u00f3tidos para pcr han permitido, posteriormente evaluar la distribuci\u00f3n de dichos sistemas biosint\u00e9ticos en una colecci\u00f3n de 209 cepas de referencia y 329 aislados salvajes, detectando la presencia de sistemas nrps, pks-i y pks-ii en la mayor\u00eda de cepas analizadas. Adem\u00e1s se ha establecido la relaci\u00f3n entre la detecci\u00f3n por pccr de sistemas pks-i, pks-ii y nrps y la actividad antimicrobiana en streptomyces y, finalmente, hemos utilizado estas herramientas para evaluar la diversidad de poblaciones de aislados salvajes pudiendo ser utilizado como un m\u00e9todo alternativo para desreplicar aislados salvajes estrechamente relacionados.
