Con una periodicidad variable tienen lugar erupciones explosivas de gran magnitud que inyectan elevadas cantidades de aerosoles en la atm\u00f3sfera. cuando estos aerosoles volc\u00e1nicos invaden la estratosfera (especialmente aquellos gases ricos en compuestos de azufre), el balance radiativo del planeta queda seriamente alterado durante un per\u00edodo de dos a tres a\u00f1os.  el \u00e1mbito peninsular no queda al margen de esta incidencia. Mediante el uso principalmente de dos t\u00e9cnicas estad\u00edsticas, el an\u00e1lisis de \u00e9pocas superpuestas y el an\u00e1lisis por componentes principales (pca) se ha podido apreciar la siguiente respuesta:  * desde el punto de vista exclusivamente t\u00e9rmico, la temperatura media mensual peninsular experimenta un descenso durante los dos a tres a\u00f1os posteriores a eventos volc\u00e1nicos. En funci\u00f3n de la localizaci\u00f3n la respuesta presenta matices. As\u00ed para grandes erupciones de localizaci\u00f3n tropical la incidencia es m\u00e1s prolongada pero de magnitud modesta, mientras que para erupciones de elevadas latitudes (hemisferio norte) la respuesta tiene una duraci\u00f3n mucho menor (4-6 meses) pero siendo esta mucha m\u00e1s aguda. espacialmente, tiende a ser m\u00e1s sensible al enfriamiento el sector meridional peninsular, mientras que estacionalmente los meses oto\u00f1ales y estivales parecen ser los que reflejan un mayor descenso t\u00e9rmico.  * la circulaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica sobre europa presenta anomal\u00edas durante el primer a\u00f1o posterior a una gran erupci\u00f3n tropical. As\u00ed, mediante el uso de la t\u00e9cnica pca, en primer invierno (diciembre, enero y febrero) se aprecia una mayor persistencia de situaciones del oeste, con un desplazamiento hacia el norte del anticicl\u00f3n subtropical de las azores.  * como consecuencia de lo anterior, es posible detectar destacables anomal\u00edas de precipitaci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de
