Se tiene un fluido contenido en un recipiente abierto a la atm\u00f3sfera por su parte superior. Se le somete a una gradiente de temperatura vertical, horizontal o ambos y se observa su comportamiento. En t\u00e9rminos matem\u00e1ticos este problema se plantea con las ecuaciones de navier stokes incompresible acopladas con un campo de temperaturas y las correspondientes condiciones de contorno. se estudian las distintas bifurcaciones que sufre la soluci\u00f3n m\u00e1s sencilla o estado b\u00e1sico dependiendo de los par\u00e1metros del problema.  para ello se ha modelado la situaci\u00f3n en dos geometr\u00edas diferentes: paralelep\u00edpedo rectangular y anillo cil\u00edndrico. La primera, al ser m\u00e1s sencilla, ha permitido realizar un estudio te\u00f3rico de las bifurcaciones. En la segunda, que es m\u00e1s complicada, se ha realizado un estudio num\u00e9rico (modelado num\u00e9rico, propiedades del m\u00e9todo, convergencia, algoritmos, an\u00e1lisis de resultados). se observan distintos tipos de estados b\u00e1sicos que sufren distintas bifurcaciones hacia ondas estacionarias, viajeras y espirales. Se distinguen los mecanismos f\u00edsicos responsables como el empuje y la tensi\u00f3n superficial.
