Als muestras tipo r1,r2 y r4 (moldeables  de alta al\u00famina) son caracter\u00edsticas del material monol\u00edtico utilizado en revestimientos que contacatan con arrabio, mientras que las muestras r3 (moldeables de magnesia) son un producto que se ha desarrollado para resistir interacciones agresivas de acero l\u00edquido o ferroaleaciones.  con el objeto de conocer la conducta de los refractorios a la temperatura de uso o muy pr\u00f3xima a ella, se han utilizado los refractorios de partida, tal como los proporcionan los suministradores, y los materiales sometidos a ciclos t\u00e9rmicos de calentamiento-enfriamiento con diferentes tiempos y temperaturas; es decir, han estado expuestos a procesos de sinterizaci\u00f3n c\u00edclica, todos excepto r4.  la caracterizaci\u00f3n mineral\u00f3gica se ha llevado a cabo mediante difracci\u00f3n de rayos x, microsonda electr\u00f3nica y microscop\u00eda \u00f3ptica.  mediante difracci\u00f3n de rayos x se han identificado los constituyentes mayoritarios de los refractorios y se ha puesto de manifiesto para los refractorios de alta al\u00famina con bajo contenido en cemento (r1 y r2), cuyas fases mayoritaria identificada es periclasa, y que se traduce en una mayor resistencia de los refractarios de alta al\u00famina a elevadas temperaturas.
