A causa de la salinizaci\u00f3n, grandes \u00e1reas geogr\u00e1ficas no son aptas para la agricultura y, otras muchas, est\u00e1n en peligro de perderse debido a que la mayor\u00eda de las plantas cultivables son muy poco tolerantes a este factor ambiental. Para disminuir el impacto de la salinidad en la agricultura, una estrategia que interesa a nuestro \u00e1mbito de actuaci\u00f3n se basa en la selecci\u00f3n de plantas tolerantes y productivas. sin embargo, ni la utilizaci\u00f3n del potencial gen\u00e9tico de las plantas ni la aportaci\u00f3n de las t\u00e9cnicas de biolog\u00eda molecular han tenido \u00e9xito hasta el momento, debido, por una parte, a la complejidad de las caracter\u00edsticas de resistencia, que ha resultado ser multig\u00e9nica, y, por otra parte, al desconocimiento de los mecanismos fisiol\u00f3gicos y bioqu\u00edmicos de tolerancia.  en relaci\u00f3n a los mecanismos de tolerancia al nacl, las plantas glic\u00f3fitas basan su tolerancia a la salinidad en la exclusi\u00f3n de i\u00f3nes, en combinaci\u00f3n con la s\u00edntesis de solutos org\u00e1nicos para su ajuste osm\u00f3tico, y las hal\u00f3fitas en la alta velocidad de absorci\u00f3n, transporte y acumulaci\u00f3n compartimentada de i\u00f3nes, para evitar la toxicidad y contribuir al ajuste osm\u00f3tico, manteni\u00e9ndose en ambos casos, una alta raz\u00f3n k+\/na+ en el citoplasma. A este respecto, la mayor\u00eda de las especies cultivadas de tomate, origen vegetal utilizado en este estudio, de una extraordinaria importancia agr\u00edcola en nuestro pa\u00eds y que se ve sometido a los continuos efectos de las altas concentraciones de nacl en los suelos y aguas de riego, presenta, predominantemente, una estrategia  glicof\u00edtica, mientras que las especies silvestres, mucho m\u00e1s tolerantes, presentan rasgos halof\u00edticos. Por tanto, en especies de tomate tolerantes, donde la capacidad para regular los flujos i\u00f3nicos debe constituir un claro mecanismo de tolerancia, la identific<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
