La propuesta de usar informaci\u00f3n lateral en el codificador ha significado un avance significativo en la b\u00fasqueda de m\u00e9todos de ocultaci\u00f3n de datos m\u00e1s eficientes. sin embargo, en la pr\u00e1ctica no se ha fundamentado suficientemente el aut\u00e9ntico impacto derviado de las ventajas te\u00f3ricas de esta idea fundamental.  desde este punto de partida, esta tesis provee una nueva evaluaci\u00f3n de la robustez de las tecnolog\u00edas de ocultaci\u00f3n de datos m\u00e1s relevantes, poniendo \u00e9nfasis en su implantaci\u00f3n en aplicaciones reales. Con este fin se comparan m\u00e9todos que usan informaci\u00f3n lateral, tales como dither modulation (dm) y dm con compensaci\u00f3n de distoris\u00f3n (dc-dm, scs) -realizaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica y quasi-\u00f3ptima del esquema te\u00f3rico estudiado por costa-, con los m\u00e9todos anteriores basados en t\u00e9cnicas de espectro ensanchado y que no usan informaci\u00f3n lateral. El entorno de comparaci\u00f3n usa distorsiones aditivas aleatorias y la probabilidad de error en el decodificador. Los distintos m\u00e9todos se comparan usando simulaciones con el m\u00e9todo de monte carlo, utilizando tanto im\u00e1genes reales como datos sint\u00e9ticos. Para confirmar nuestros resultados, se dan an\u00e1lisis te\u00f3ricos precisos de la mayor\u00eda de los m\u00e9todos considerados. se estudian extensiones multidimensionales de los mismos para ofrecer una visi\u00f3n m\u00e1s completa de las comparaciones. Los resultados muestran que los m\u00e9todos que usan informaci\u00f3n lateral ofrecen un redimiento mejor para niveles de distoris\u00f3n moderados y bajos, siendo por otra parte m\u00e1s sensibles al nivel y tipo de ataque.  adem\u00e1s, se demuestra la imposibilidad de optimizar a priori estos m\u00e9todos, lo que a\u00f1ade una visi\u00f3n menos optimista de su rendimiento potencial.  las
