La galactosa, la glucosa y la 2-deoxiglucosa son captadas con una km entre 2 y 4 mm. La fructosa es absorbida con una afinidad 7 veces menor, mientras que el alfa-metilgluc\u00f3sido no es absorbido por procesos de transporte. El transporte de az\u00facares no parece ser un transporte activo secundario, ya que no depende del gradiente electroqu\u00edmico de iones na+ o de otros iones como cl-, k+ o mg2+ y ca2+, ni del ph. Tampoco el kcn 2mm afecta al transporte de az\u00facares. La florricina, potente inhibidor del sglt1, lo inhibe ligeramente, mientras que la floretina, teofilina y citocalsaina b, inhibidores de transportadores tipo glut, ejercen una inhibici\u00f3n m\u00e1s marcada.  la inyecci\u00f3n de rna poli a+ aislado de los ciegos g\u00e1stricos en ovocitos de xenopus laevis, da lugar a una entrada de galactosa 5 veces mayor que en los ovocitos no inyectados y que no es dependiente del na+.  con el fin de detectar transportadores de az\u00facares de los ciegos g\u00e1stricos, se utiliz\u00f3 la t\u00e9cnica de rt-pcr con cebadores degenerados. Se detectaron secuencias parciales de rna mensajeros codificantes para posibles transportadores tipo glut. Mediante la t\u00e9cnica de race, se ha logrado una secuencia incompleta de 1946 nucle\u00f3tidos con una regi\u00f3n codificadora de 494 amino\u00e1cidos. La estructura secundaria de esta prote\u00edna presenta caracter\u00edsticas estructurales y motivos de amino\u00e1cidos conservados en los transportadores facilitativos tipo glut.  en resumen, se ha
