Dicho marco te\u00f3rico extiende los formalismos previos, permite el an\u00e1lisis de condiciones experimentales nuevas, y posibilita la investigaci\u00f3n de par\u00e1metros f\u00edsicos que permanec\u00edan inaccesibles. Adem\u00e1s, el desarrollo te\u00f3rico proporciona un formalismo unificado para las diversas situaciones experimentales, del que se carec\u00eda previamente.  dentro de este marco,se han desarrollado nuevas t\u00e9cnicas de caracterizaci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica esclareciendo al relaci\u00f3n entre el esquema te\u00f3rico y su aplicaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica, y proporcionando pautas n\u00edtidas para la utilizaci\u00f3n del formalismo sin simplificaciones inadecuadas. Las t\u00e9cnicas desarrolladas proporcionan informaci\u00f3n nueva sobre la estructura electr\u00f3nica del material, permiten tratar casos previamente inabordables, y permiten separa las diversas regiones microsc\u00f3picas que contribuyen a su respuesta el\u00e9ctrica.  como aplicaci\u00f3n de este trabajo, se ha estudiado el caso de los materiales varistores basados en \u00f3xido de zinc. Tras situar al material con respecto al esquema te\u00f3rico, se ha producido a su caracterizaci\u00f3n c-v sin restricciones sobre la amplitud de las se\u00f1al de medida. A continuaci\u00f3n, se han obtenido los par\u00e1metros f\u00edsicos de su estructura electr\u00f3nica en las distintas regiones microsc\u00f3picas. As\u00ed, se ha descubierto el efecto ptcr (coeficiente de temperatura positivo para la resistencia) del interior de grano, se han explicado diversos aspectos del comportamiento bajo pulsos de alta corriente, se ha demostrado la existencia de un nivel profundo dominante, se ha encontrado un posible origen a la respuesta no debye del material, y se ha correlacionado la p\u00e9rdida de propiedades
