El levante espa\u00f1ol, es una de las xonas m\u00e1s importantes de este cultivo. Concretamente en las regiones de alicante, Valencia y murcia existen numerosas cooperativas dedicadas a la comercializaci\u00f3n de granada en fresco, sin embargo dichas empresas se enfrentan con un serio problema, el elevado n\u00famero de frutos de destr\u00edo que se obtienen. Esta situaci\u00f3n es consecuencia de una fisiopat\u00eda conocida como craking o rajado que deprecia el fruto, imposibilitando su comercializaci\u00f3n.  este inconveniente, se convierte en un problema, pues es un residuo no apto para alimentaci\u00f3n animal (debido a un potente alcaloide (peleterina) que contiene en la corteza), mientras que como abono, resultar\u00eda demasiado caro.  los principales objetivos planteados fueron; el aprovechamiento de los supbroductos o excedentes de granada y la elaboraci\u00f3n de alimentos de alto poder nutricional (zumos, gelatinas, y jaleas). Para todo ello se realizaron estudios de los diferentes compuestos beneficiosos para la salud que tienen la granada. Asimismo tambi\u00e9n se determin\u00f3 el contenido de vitamina c, la capacidad antioxidante y la disponibilidad de los compuestos bioactivos a nivel gastrointestinal, es decir, se estudi\u00f3 que
