Coli constituyen un operon bajo el control de los promotores de dnaa; el siguiente gen, gyrb, es una unidad transcripcional independiente. La expresion de los tres genes del operon esta regulada por terminadores transcripcionales intragenicos cuya actividad varia con la tasa de traduccion de cada gen. Dos de estos terminadores (en recf) son independientes de factores, mientras que los demas dependen de rho y nusg, excepto dos (en dnan) que dependen de factores no identificados. En el interior de dnaa existe una secuencia para la union de esta proteina al adn; sin embargo, esta caja dnaa no participa en la regulacion de la expresion de este gen, contrariamente a lo propuesto anteriormente.
