Las estructuras de bandas se han calculado utilizando el metodo de los hamiltonianos efectivos de Valencia (veh). Las geometrias se han obtenido mediante calculos ab initio en oligomeros, empleando un conjunto de base doble zeta.  en primer lugar se han estudiado las propiedades electronicas de los polimeros no sustituidos, asi como el efecto de la incorporacion de grupos metilo y metoxi en las propiedades electronicas.  el estudio se continua con el analisis de la influencia de los heteroatomos, estudiandose los copolimeros (1:1) de los poli (heteroarileno vinilenos). Este analisis se complementa con el estudio de la influencia de la composicion del copolimero, para lo cual se estudian diferentes copolimeros del poli (tienileno vinileno-co-pirrolileno vinileno). En este ultimo estudio ademas, se analiza la influencia de la disposicion de los heteroatomos en la cadena polimerica.
