Because of the broadness of the term and the difficulty of dealing with all the processes in detail in one single study, investigations generally focus on some aspects that may be the dey to understnd different patterns in the life strategy of the species. the present work describes some aspects in the life history  strategy of one of the main clupeid species in the baltic sea: sprat (sprattus sprattus). In particular, this study analyses the life history strategy of baltic sprat in relation to the age at which the onset of maturity occurs and how variability among different parts of the population relates to traits early in life, especially hatch date, size and growth. Because of possible variation in the arrival of new-spawner into the spawning ground, temporal trends in abundance at the spawning grounds of the different components of the populatioj have also been investigated. The study tries to elucidate as well the key processes influencing the dynamics of early life stages to finally discuss possible patterns in the life history strategy of baltic sprat.   el presente trabajo describe algunos aspectos en la estrategia de vida de una de las especies de clupeidos m\u00e1s importantes en el mar del b\u00e1ltico (sprattus sprattus). En particular, este estudio analiza la estrategia de vida del espad\u00edn b\u00e1ltico en relaci\u00f3n a la edad a la que se produce la madurez y c\u00f3mo la variabilidad entre distintas partes de la poblaci\u00f3n se relaciona a las caracter\u00edsticas en su etapa juvenil, principalmente d\u00eda de nacimiento, tama\u00f1o y crecimiento. Se investigan cambios en la abundancia y las caracter\u00edsticas de los componentes de la poblaci\u00f3n en la zona de puesta, y su diferente llegada a esta zona. El estudio, adem\u00e1s, trata de investigar qu\u00e9 procesos influencian la din\u00e1mica de los estad\u00edos juveniles para relacionarlo dentro de la estrategia de vida del
