En espa\u00f1a los primeros sistemas desarrollados se aplicaron a redes interurbanas, de competencia estatal o auton\u00f3mica. Son sistemas basados en la recogida de datos con dispositi-vos de alto rendimiento, automatizados. La aplicaci\u00f3n de redes urbanas en mucho m\u00e1s reducida, sobre todo, si se limita a sistemas basados exclusivamente en datos obtenidos de la auscultaci\u00f3n del firme mediante inspecciones visuales.  el sistema que se propone se basa en la revisi\u00f3n de los sistemas de gesti\u00f3n de firmes existentes y el an\u00e1lisis m\u00e1s exhaustivo de un grupo de ellos, denominados aqu\u00ed \u00absistemas de referencia\u00bb. El dise\u00f1o del nuevo sistema, denominado urbafir, se enmarca a su vez en el an\u00e1lisis de los recursos t\u00e9cnicos, econ\u00f3micos y de personal disponibles en administraciones municipales. para facilitar la implementaci\u00f3n y aplicaci\u00f3n de la metodolog\u00eda propuesta, se desarroll\u00f3 un programa inform\u00e1tico, urbafir 1.0.  la aplicaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica de este sistema en una parte seleccionada de la red urbana de granada permiti\u00f3 el an\u00e1lisis comparativo entre los resultados del sistema y la pol\u00edtica local en materia de gesti\u00f3n de firmes,
