As\u00ed recientemente se han clonado diversos enzimas  pertenecientes a la v\u00eda de s\u00edntesis de taxol a partir de diferentes especies de taxus, en una carrera cient\u00edfica para la total comprensi\u00f3n de esta ruta. El primer enzima espec\u00edfico de la ruta de s\u00edntesis de taxol es la txs, presente en diferentes especies de taxus y en algunos hongos simbiontes.  en este trabajo se ha llevado a cabo la clonaci\u00f3n de un cdna codificante para la txs de taxus baccata a partir de c\u00e9lulas en cultivo. Ensayos de actividad \u00abin vitro\u00bb realizados con una versi\u00f3n recombinante txs-his purificada a partir de c\u00e9lulas de e.Coli, han demostrado que este enzima es activo en transformar ggpp en taxadieno pese a la deleci\u00f3n del posible p\u00e9ptido de tr\u00e1nsito a plastos del extremo amino terminal y a presentar un ep\u00edtopo rgs-6his en el extremo carboxiterminal. Plantas transg\u00e9nicas 35s:txs de arabidopsis portadoras de una construcci\u00f3n para la producci\u00f3n constitutiva de la prote\u00edna recombinante txs-his procesan la prote\u00edna y la localizan correctamente ne plastos. Dichas plantas son capaces de acumular taxadieno, el primer intermediario espec\u00edfico de la ruta de s\u00edntesis de taxol. La expresi\u00f3n de txs-his y la consecuente acumulaci\u00f3n de taxadieno afectan varios aspectos del desarrollo de las plantas relacionadas con la prudcci\u00f3n de isoprenoides, tales como la germinaci\u00f3n, elongaci\u00f3n, floraci\u00f3n y acumulaci\u00f3n de pigmentos fotosint\u00e9ticos (clorifilas y carotenoides). El an\u00e1lisis de plantas transg\u00e9nicas dobles que adem\u00e1s de txs-his sobreexpresan constitutivamente enzimas limitantes de la s\u00edntesis de precursores isoprenoides plast\u00eddicos
