Mar Lorente P\u00e9rez <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>El grupo polycomb comprende un grupo heterog\u00e9neo de prote\u00ednas que se van a encargar del mantenimiento estable de estados transcripcionalmente inactivos durante el desarrollo. El mecanismo de memoria celular proporcionado por las prote\u00ednas polycomb est\u00e1 ampliamente conservado a trav\u00e9s de la escala evolutiva. Los genes diana m\u00e1s conocidos de las prote\u00ednas polycomb son los genes hox. Los genes hox codifican para factores transcripcionales activos durante el desarrollo embrionario en distintos segmentos del individuo, de tal forma que, cada segemento tiene un c\u00f3digo hox \u00fanico responsable de su identidad. La expresi\u00f3n diferencial de genes hox a lo largo del ejer anterior-posterior del embri\u00f3n tiene como resultado la especificaci\u00f3n del eje axial. Cambios en los dominios de expresi\u00f3n de genes hox originan lo que se conoce como transformaci\u00f3n home\u00f3tica (un determinado segmento adquiere la identidad de otro situado en una posici\u00f3n distinta en el eje anterior-posterior a consecuencia de un c\u00f3digo hox modificado). Las prote\u00ednas polycomb act\u00faan como complejos multiproteicos. Variaciones en los niveles de prote\u00ednas polycomb en rat\u00f3n dan lugar a alteraciones en la expresi\u00f3n de genes hox y a transformaciones home\u00f3ticas del esqueleto axial entre otros fenotipos. en nuestro laboratorio se identificaron dos genes ring1a y ring1b, cuyos productos eran capaces de interaccionar con la prote\u00edna polycomb murina m33. A diferencia del resto de prot\u00e9inas polycomb de rat\u00f3n, no se hab\u00eda definido una funci\u00f3n polycomb para el ort\u00f3logo de ring1a y ring1b en drosophila melanogaster, el objetivo de esta tesis ha sido definir una funci\u00f3n polycomb para la prote\u00edna ring1a.  una primera aproximaci\u00f3n al problema ha consistido en la generaci\u00f3n de ratones con ganancia y p\u00e9rdida de funci\u00f3n rin1a.
