Consta de un estudio preliminar, el texto anotado y el aparato de variantes.  el estudio preliminar est\u00e1 formado por seis apartados. En ellos se estudian aspectos tales como la dataci\u00f3n y la autor\u00eda de la obra: aspectos asc\u00e9nicos de las representaciones que de ella se hicieron en los siglos xvii y xviii; la recepci\u00f3n de la doctrina paulina, de la patr\u00edstica y de otros autores cristiano en la obra; la estructura y la m\u00e9trica de esta pieza teatral; sus similitudes y diferencias con otros autos sacramentales calderonianos; y un estudio textual.Este estudio preliminar se completa con una detallada bibliograf\u00eda, donde se recogen todas las obras y art\u00edculos citados.  el texto del auto sacramental ha sido sometido a un riguroso proceso de fijaci\u00f3n, para lo cual se han cotejado todos los testiminios conservados conocidos. Seha modernizado la graf\u00eda (siempre que no tuviese trascendencia fon\u00e9tica) y se ha revisado minuciosamente la puntuaci\u00f3n. Las abreviaturas han sido desarrollads sin menci\u00f3n expresa. El aparato cr\u00edticio que acompa\u00f1a al texto est\u00e1 formado por tres tipos de notas: textuales, filol\u00f3gicas y socioculturales. En las primeras se explican los puntos m\u00e1s problem\u00e1ticos de la fijaci\u00f3n textual y las razones que llevaron a aceptar unas lecturas y a rechazar otras. En las segundas se esclarecen los pasajes oscuros que necesitan de una explicaci\u00f3n para el lector moderno. En las \u00faltimas see explican todas las referencias y alusiones a circunstancias culturales, literarias, hist\u00f3ricas, sociales, etc. Para realizar la anotaci\u00f3n se ha realizado una profunda investigaci\u00f3n interdisciplinar.  en el aparato de variantes se recogen las diferencias entre los textos de los veinte testimonios conservados.
