Parte de la tesis seg\u00fan la cual la diversidad de manifestaciones que conocemos como \u00abcultura\u00bb representa el \u00e1mbito privilengiado para la comprensi\u00f3n del ser humano y de las formas comunitarias de su interacci\u00f3n. el hombre puede ser interpretado como \u00abser-ambital-perceptivo\u00bb. El hombre no es un ser desarraigado, sino un ser en el mundo (heidegger) en la historia y en la tradici\u00f3n (gadamer) marcado por los lenguajes y la cultura (ricoeur).  presenta en diez cap\u00edtulos el car\u00e1cter reflexivo de la cultura.  la cultura como hecho social, siguiendo a l\u00e9vi-strauss para quien el orden cultural tiene orden normativo puesto que se determina a partir de la prohibici\u00f3n del incesto expone la hterogeneidad y unidad cultural. Considerado como pueblo el puertorrique\u00f1o es la fusi\u00f3n de indios nativos, espa\u00f1oles (peninsular e isle\u00f1o), corsos, africanos y otros que tiene el espa\u00f1ol como mediaci\u00f3n comunicativa unificadora. La religi\u00f3n y religiones como elemento cultural refleja un sustrato cat\u00f3lico que a lo largo del siglo xx se diversific\u00f3 con una fuerte penetraci\u00f3n protestante. Destaca la familia y el espiritu popular. La sociedad y la cultura gravitan en torno a la familia. La educaci\u00f3n ny los valores personales y culturales. El puertorrique\u00f1o se identifica culturalmente y de forma predominante con la tradici\u00f3n husp\u00e1nica seg\u00fan las modalidades espec\u00edficas y singulares adversivas en el an\u00e1lisis.  se percibe una identidad cultural muy fuerte, una conciencia, no empece su condici\u00f3n de \u00abcolonia\u00bb de norte am\u00e9rica desde 1898.
