Ante una visi\u00f3n tradicional y hegem\u00f3nica del modernism que margina diversas realizaciones del mismo, la intenci\u00f3n en mostrar los mecanismos que hicieron posible esta configuraci\u00f3n y tratar, posteriormente, de proponer una alternativa no jerarquizada. Asimismo, el modernism se considera en todo momento una manifestaci\u00f3n literaria de una etapa de la modernidad, trat\u00e1ndose pues de desvelar la interrelaci\u00f3n de sus textos con las ansiedades y preocupaciones de esta fase hist\u00f3rica.  la estructura de la tesis est\u00e1 dividida en siete cap\u00edtulos: sus temas son la formaci\u00f3n de la imagen cr\u00edtica del modernism hegem\u00f3nico (cap\u00edtulo primero), contrastada en el cap\u00edtulo sengundo con la visi\u00f3n del modernismo en el materialismo dial\u00e9ctico. El tercer cap\u00edtulo versa sobre la relaci\u00f3n entre el modernism y la cultura de masas, un aspecto crucial del discurso de los autores en cuesti\u00f3n. El cuarto cap\u00edtulo explora las relaciones entre la esfera p\u00fablica (por ejemplo, en lo que se refiere a la industria editorial) y el modernism, tomando como objeto la bora de ezra pound. En el quinto, se examina la dial\u00e9ctica entre forma y contenido a trav\u00e9s de varios autores (dorothy richardson, may sinclair, wyndham lewis).
