Asunci\u00f3n <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En esta tesis se ha estudiado la oxidaci\u00f3n h\u00fameda de fenol con un catalizador comercial de cobre. Se ha elegido el fenol como compuesto modelo debido a que es un contaminante refractario muy extendido en las aguas residuales de la industria, se forma como intermedio en la oxidaci\u00f3n de compuestos arom\u00e1ticos de elevado peso molecular y se ha empleado frecuentemente en los trabajos de la bibliograf\u00eda que estudian la oxidaci\u00f3n h\u00fameda y la oxidaci\u00f3n avanzada, como modelo de aguas industriales con contaminantes de naturaleza fen\u00f3lica. Se ha seleccionado un catalizador de cobre como fase activa, ya que este metal presenta una actividad catal\u00edtica elevada en la oxidaci\u00f3n de fenol en fase acuosa.  se ha considerado el tratamiento de oxidaci\u00f3n h\u00famedad en condiciones de ph \u00e1cido y b\u00e1sico. En ambos casos se ha determinado la ruta de oxidaci\u00f3n catal\u00edtica de fenol, que resulta diferente, se han propuesto mecanismos de reacci\u00f3n v\u00eda radicales libres que explican dichas rutas de oxidaci\u00f3n, se ha medido la toxicidad de los intermedios identificados en cada caso y se ha analizado la evoluci\u00f3n de dicha toxicidad durante la oxidaci\u00f3n de fenol, tanto a ph \u00e1cido como a ph b\u00e1sico. Adem\u00e1s, en la oxidaci\u00f3n catal\u00edtica de fenol en condiciones \u00e1cidas, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio detallado de la lixiviaci\u00f3n de la fase activa (cobre) y su efecto en la oxidaci\u00f3n de fenol en la fase l\u00edquida. Se han analizado los factores que afectan a dicha lixiviaci\u00f3n de cobre, la cin\u00e9tica de la lixiviaci\u00f3n y la influencia del cobre en disoluci\u00f3n en la velocidad de oxidaci\u00f3n y mineralizaci\u00f3n de fenol.
