Existen dos modos de llevar a cabo la fusion: uno es la  denominada fusion por confinamiento magnetico (fcm) y el otro la fusion por confinamiento inercial (fci). La fci, mas simple, que la fcm, se espera culmine en un futuro mas o menos  inmediato con la demostracion de la factibilidad cientifica de la fusion. Uno de los principales inconvenientes que plantea la fci se deriva del hecho de que es un proceso inherentemente inestable. En concreto, esta afectada  por dos inestabilidades diferentes, a saber, la inestabilidad de rayleigh-taylor y la inestabilidad de ritchmyer-meshkov. El control de estas inestabilidades es critico, no solo de cara a la reduccion de la energia minima (de por si enorme), requerida para llevar a cabo estos procesos, sino tambien de cara a su factibilidad misma, ya que si no se controlan adecuadamente pueden conducir incluso a una indeseable destruccion del blanco, como consecuencia de las fluctuaciones que de forma natural afectan al sistema (rugosidad de la superficie del piston, asimetria de la irradiacion, etc)  en concreto, la inestabilidad de rayleigh-taylor esta siendo objeto, en los ultimos a\u00f1os, de intensos estudios experimentales de simulaciones numericas y de estudios teoricos. Estos ultimos resultan de gran interes debido a que intentan quedarse con la fisica esencial de los procesos, sirviendo de complemento y apoyo tanto a los experimentos como a las simulaciones. con el fin de superar la complejidad  y la falta de generalidad de la mayoria de los estudios teoricos, surgieron los denominados modelos analiticos relativamente simples. Los primeros intentos en este sentido datan de 1974 y a lo largo de las dos decadas siguientes no fue posible obtener ningun resultado satisfactorio hasta fque, en 19<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
