La afinidad de los tioles por la superficie del oro y las propiedades ventajosas delas monocapas que forman nos llev\u00f3 a estudiar el proceso de formaci\u00f3n de estas monocapas, a la caracterizaci\u00f3n de los sistemas formados y a su utilizaci\u00f3n en el desarrollo de biosensores amperom\u00e9tricos enzim\u00e1ticos.  los resultados obtenidos durante la realizaci\u00f3n de esta tesis doctoral demuestran que es posible fabricar biosensores amperom\u00e9tricos fiables y adecuados para trabajar tanto en disoluciones agitadas como en sistemas de inyecci\u00f3n en flujo, utilizando electrodos de disco de oro modificados con monocapas de \u00e1cido 3-mercaptopropanoico (mpa). Una vez optimizadas las condiciones de formaci\u00f3n de la monocapa, se han desarrollado biosensores para la determinaci\u00f3n de analitos de inter\u00e9s en la industria alimentaria, en qu\u00edmica cl\u00ednica y en an\u00e1lisis medioambiental (glucosa, fructosa, lactulosa, per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno, teofilina, hipoxantina y compuestos fen\u00f3licos) inmovilizando la\/s correspondiente\/s y el mediador redox tetratiaflulvaleno (en caso necesario) mediante entrecruzamiento con glutaraldeh\u00eddo sobre el electrodo modificado.  todos los biosensores desarrollados  son robustos, exhiben buenas caracter\u00edsticas anal\u00edticas incluyendo reproducibilidad, estabilidad y sensibilidad cuando se coparan con otros dise\u00f1os de biosensores descritos en la bilbiograf\u00eda, demostr\u00e1ndose, adem\u00e1s, su utilidad para el an\u00e1lisis de muestras reales.  por todo ello, consideramos cumplido el objetivo planteado al comienzo de esta tesis,
