Aralar1 y citrina son dos camcs humanos con una gran homolog\u00eda entre s\u00ed, y han sido recientemente caracterizados como isoformas del transportador mitocondrial de aspartato\/glutamato (acg), regulado por calcio en la cara externa de la membrana mitocondrial interna.  aralar1 y citrina son los hom\u00f3logos humanos de agc1p, un miembro de la subfamilia camc en la levadura saccharomyces cerevisiae (902 aa, orf ypr021c), aunque su dominio n-terminal  no presenta dominios de manos ef. Para investigar el papel fisiol\u00f3gico de agc1p llevamos a cabo la disrupci\u00f3n del gen agc1 en s.Cerevisiae y estudiamos el mutante de disrupci\u00f3n resultante utilizando aproximaciones metab\u00f3licas convencionales as\u00ed como resonancia magn\u00e9tica nuclear (rmn) de 13c. Nuestros resultados proporcionan evidencias de que agc1p es el transplantador mictocondrial de aspartato\/glutamato en levadura. juega un papel en el metabolismo del nitr\u00f3geno y en la s\u00edntesis de la ornitina en mitocondrial y es requerido para el funcionamiento de la lanzadera r\u00e9dox de malato-asparatto en s.Cerevisae, una lanzadera de nadh necesaria para el crecimiento de la levadura con acetato y \u00e1cidos grasos como fuente de carbono.  yn1083p, otro miembro de la subfamilia camc, es el hom\u00f3logo en levaduras de los scamcs humanos (short calcium binding mitochondrial carriers), cuya funci\u00f3n de transporte es aun desconocida, y presenta dominios de manos ef en su dominio n-terminal.
