El modelo animal de angioplastia utilizando la arteria car\u00f3tida com\u00fan de la rata, desarrollado para estudiar los fen\u00f3menos hiperpl\u00e1sicos de la t\u00fanica \u00edntima de un vaso arterial, es una buena aproximaci\u00f3n para ensayar el comportamiento de posibles tratamientos para evitar la reestenosis postangioplastia y estudiar los mecanismos intracelulares de los factores que intervienen en la migraci\u00f3n y proliferaci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas musculares lisas, que son las responsables de la formaci\u00f3n neointimal.  2. El sulfato de neomicina aplicado localmente sobre una arteria lesionada mediante distensi\u00f3n intr\u00ednseca, es capaz de disminuir la proliferaci\u00f3n y migraci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas musculares lisas, causantes de la hiperplasia neointimal reactiva.  3. El efecto antiproliferativo de la neomicina sobre las c\u00e9lulas musculares lisas arteriales puede estar mediado por una inhibici\u00f3n sin\u00e9rgica de la activaci\u00f3n de las mapk y nf-kb.
