El estudio se ha realizado empleando la tecnica de reconstitucion total in vitro del ribosoma de la arquea halofila extrema h. Mediterranei, en combinacion con la modificacion quimica del rrna en las dos fases de dicho proceso.  como modo adicional de estudiar el ensamblaje activo del ribosoma se ha analizado la formacion, a lo largo del proceso de reconstitucion, de los lugares de interaccion para dos antibioticos de distinta especificidad funcional: anisomicina (inhibidor especifico de la actividad peptidil transferasa) y tiostrepton (especifico de la actividad gtpasa).  con todo ello, se ha podido establecer un modelo para la estructuracion del ribosoma funcional de h.
