Ambos marcos teoricos son el punto de partida para formular las hipotesis de partida del trabajo. 1. El lenguaje del deficiente mental es una protolengua. 2. No podemos negar a priori la competencia linguistica al deficiente mental.  la obtencion de datos, su analisis detallado y la propuesta de intervencion, vienen a confirmar ambas hipotesis. El lenguaje del d.M. Es una protolengua (alteracion del orden de la frase, presencia de c.V., escasos mecanismos de expansion, ausencia de argumentos ub. Y escasa utilizacion de elementos gramaticales). La intervencion de estos aspectos es positiva con lo cual afirmamos la segunda hipotesis, la competencia linguistica del d.M.
