Este numero de genes define la familia de genes reguladores de mayor tama\u00f1o hasta ahora conocida en plantas, que representa un 0,2-0,6% del total de los genes de arabidopsis thaliana.  asimismo, se ha estudiado las propiedades de union a dna de varias proteinas codificadas por este tipo de genes habiendo constatado el considerable parecido entre proteinas r2r3-myb en cuanto a la especificidad de union a dna. Por ultimo, se han ensayado dos estrategias para inhibir la actividad de varios genes r2r3-myb a la vez, si bien los resultados han sido negativos. No obstante los genes identificados en esta tesis estan permitiendo el uso de tecnicas de genetica inversa para la identificacion de mutantes de genes pertenecientes a esta familia que podran aclarar
