<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I) se comparan mediante analisis de concordancia, calibracion y discriminacion las predicciones de mortalidad de \u00abacute physiology score and chronic health evaluation ii\u00bb (apache ii), \u00absimplified acute physiology score ii\u00bb (saps ii) y \u00abmortality probability models ii\u00bb (mpmii) en una cohorte de 202 pacientes criticos no coronarios.  se encuentra que cuando estas escalas se miden a las 24 horas de ingreso en la unidad de cuidados intensivos (uci), mpm ii y apache ii presentan las mejores predicciones, y cuando se miden a las 48 horas apache ii resulta superior al resto, optimizando sus predicciones de mortalidad.  los resultados fueron identicos cuando el analisis quedo restringido al subgrupo compuesto por los 113 pacientes que recibieron ventilacion mecanica.  ii) se estudia la relacion entre el \u00abtherapeutic intervention scoring system\u00bb (tiss) como puntuacion de esfuerzo terapeutico y cada una de las puntuaciones de gravedad saps ii, apache ii y apache iii en 202 pacientes criticos en las primeras 24 horas de ingreso en uci.  se encuentra una relacion lineal (p&lt;0,001) entre cada puntuacion de gravedad y la puntuacion de esfuerzo terapeutico.  aplicando el analisis de componentes principales, se propone un modelo de clasificacion de pacientes en 4 niveles diferentes de gravedad y esfuerzo terapeutico, con diferencias estadisticamente significativas en la tasa de mortalidad entre ellos (p&lt;0,05), y cuya aplicacion practica puede suponer una mejora en la utilizacion de recursos de los cuidados
