Para las altas velocidades de deformacion se ha utilizado con exito la barra hopkinson, tecnica bien conocida den la caracterizacion de metales pero hasta ahora nunca utilizada en materiales compuestos de fibra de kevlar o de polietileno. La simulacion numerica de ensayo completo ha garantizado la correcta interpretacion de los resultados.  esta caracterizacion ha servido como paso previo a la elaboracion de un modelo analitico de impacto sobre materiales compuestos y sobre ceramica respaldada por material compuesto. El estudio detenido del impacto sobre hilos y tejidos ha permitido la elaboracion de un modelo analitico sencillo y fiable de impacto sobre material compuesto y ceramica\/material compuesto que permite el dise\u00f1o de blindajes en pocos segundos de calculo de un ordenador personal. Para la validacion de estos modelos se ha recurrido tanto a los resultados experimentales presentes en la literatura como a la simulacion numerica por medio de un programa comercial confirmando que no hay que limitarse a los caros modelos numericos o experimentales ya que la modelizacion analitica puede dar buenos resultados.
