Para ello se han fabricado dispositivos de distintos tama\u00f1os sobre estructuras diferentes con el objeto de observar la incidencia del area en la eficiencia cuantica externa y los tiempos de conmutacion. Para la fabricacion de dispositivos se han utilizado tres tipos de estructuras internas: una de ellas es una heterounion de alxga1-xas, la segunda consiste basicamente en una doble heteroestructura de p-al0,45ga0,55as\/p-gaas\/n-al0,45ga0,55as y un reflector de bragg y la ultima es una homounion de gaas.  se han modelado teoricamente la eficiencia cuantica externa, la caida que esta experimenta debido a la resistencia serie y al calentamiento y los tiempos de conmutacion. Como resultado se han obtenido expresiones teoricas para dichas carcteristicas en las que se incluye la dependencia con el area.
