Las imagenes se someten a correcciones geometricas y radiometricas, que compensan la distorsion del terreno debida al barrido del campo de vision de los sensores avhrr, asi como los efectos de absorcion y difusion de la atmosfera.  mediante combinacion lineal de los canales 1 y 2 del noaa se genera una imagen de ocupacion superficial de nieve en la que cada pixel tiene un valor proporcional al porcentaje de superficie cubierta de nieve.  en cada cuenca hidrografica se elabora un modelo digital del terreno (mdt), que se utiliza junto con la imagen de porcentaje de nieve para calcular el reparto hypsometrico de superficie de nieve en intervalos de altura, cada 100 m.  se utiliza el modelo hidrologico srm para obtener, a partir de la superficie de nieve y de datos meterologicos, predicciones de caudales de fusion de nieve en los puntos de cierre de cada cuenca y estimacion de volumenes netos de agua acumulada en forma de nieve.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos
