En la presente tesis doctoral hemos tratado de a\u00f1adir algunos datos neuroquimicos a los pocos existentes respecto al mecanismo de accion de los anestesicos locales sobre el snc, seleccionando para ello uno de los mas empleados: la lidocaina.  hemos dividido el trabajo en tres apartados bien diferenciados:  1) efecto de la lidocaina sobre la capacidad del tejido cerebral para hidrolizar los sustratos cromogenicos lis-, leu- y asp-2- naftilamidas.  con esta primera parte del trabajo se pretende observar si la neurotransmision peptidergica general esta alterada, ya que con el empleo de estos sustratos se cubre el amplio espectro de aminopeptidasas (ap) acidas, basicas y neutras. Se realiza tanto fraccion soluble como unida a membrana. Los resultados muestran principalmente alteraciones en la actividad neutra y basica en corteza frontal, sin cambios en la actividad acida.  2) efecto de la lidocaina sobre la capacidad del tejido cerebral para hidrolizar sustratos cromogenicos del tipo de la tir- y la pglu-2- naftilamidas. La utilizacion de estos sustratos nos da idea de posibles modificaciones en actividades enzimaticas especificas: tir- ap\/encefalinas y pglu- ap\/trh. Nuevamente las principales alteraciones se producen en corteza frontal.  3) en base a los resultados anteriores, se ha realizado un inmunomarcaje contra encefalina en diversas regiones cerebrales de la rata.
