Las conclusiones principales son: 1) la administracion aguda y\/o cronica de reserpina, un depletor de monoaminas, o de farmacos colinergicos tanto directos como indirectos provoca un estado de supersensibilidad del adrenoceptor alfa-2 en el snc y snp. Estos cambios estan asociados a modificaciones en los parametros que definen la reserva funcional de receptores. La administracion cronica del antidepresivo desipramina provoca una desensibilizacion del adrenoceptor alfa-2 que es diferente (menor) cuando el tratamiento se realiza en un animal con un adrenoceptor alfa-2 previamente supersensible. 2) las neuronas noradrenergicas del locus coeruleus y el conducto deferente poseen una importante reserva funcional de adrenoceptores alfa-2. Se describe la cinetica de recambio de estos receptores en el locus coeruleus. 3) el locus coeruleus contiene receptores imidazolinicos, posiblemente del subtipo i1, que modulan de forma estimulatoria
