La clave en la formacion de este material radica en el empleo de moleculas organica que por su naturaleza pueden formar micelas y mesoestructuras denominadas cristales liquidos.  tambien se ha estudiado la influencia de diversas variables de sintesis sobre la localizacion y coordinacion de aluminio y titanio en la estructura mcm-41, asi como las modificaciones que esta sustitucion introduce en las propiedades texturales y estructurales de los materiales obtenidos. Los materiales resultantes se denominan a1-mcm-41 y ti-mcm-41, respectivamente.  en el caso de material ti-mcm-41 el objetivo ultimo ha sido obtener un catalizador de oxidacion lo mas activo y
