Para ello se inicia con una aproximacion historica a los hechos anteriores, para entrar a continuacion a desarrollar de forma cronologica la situacion de la ense\u00f1anza primaria durante todo el siglo xix, de modo fundamental en la capital y analizando de forma detallada tres centros esenciales: la escuela de la compa\u00f1ia de jesus (luego aneja de la normal) las del obispo palafox y las escuelas aguirre. Utilizando la abundante documentacion existente en el archivo municipal se puede seguir la problematica de la instruccion primaria: construcciones escolares, ampliacion de centros, nombramientos de maestros, dificultades de escolarizacion, etc., Con las sucesivas etapas en que se va prestando atencion a sectores como las ni\u00f1as, los parvulos, adultos.
