Asi, ha sido posible obtener en 17 etapas y con gran efectividad los acidos 5beta- metil y 5beta-fenilkainicos, con rendimientos superiores al 27%; mientras que la sintesis de sus epimeros en la posicion 5 se ha realizado en 19 pasos por una ruta sintetica diferente, con un rendimiento global del 3.7% en el caso del acido 5alfa-metilkainico y del 1.8% en el caso del acido 5alfa-fenilkainico.  por otro lado, la metodolog\u00eda desarrollada para la sintesis de los acidos kainicos 5beta-sustituidos ha permitido tambien obtener de forma efectiva y totalmente diastereoselectiva los acidos
