Estos han sido descritos ultraestructuralmente y mediante histoquimica de lectinas. Las glandulas pelvicas son alveolares con epitelio cilindrico y celulas epiteliales claras y oscuras que muestran una ultraestructura diferente y una histoquimica similar, con glicoproteinas unidas a n. Las glandulas dorsales muestran epitelio cilindrico y sus granulos de secreccion se marcan para glicoproteinas con oligosacaridos unidos a n y o. Las glandulas ventrales presentan una porcion secretora y otra excretora. La secretora tiene granulos mucosos y se marcan para proteinas con oligosacaridos unidos a o. Las glandulas de kingsbury son glandulas exocrinas mucosas con celulas ricas en mitocondrias intercaladas entre las celulas secretoras. Estas glandulas muestran marcaje con las lectinas que se unen tanto a o- como a n-glicoproteinas. Todas las glandulas cloacales muestran celulas mioepiteliales con una funcion contractil. Las glandulas cloacales presentan variaciones dependiendo de la fase del ciclo reproductor en que se encuentren.
