Este doble objetivo se consigue mediante el desarrollo de un nuevo algoritmo de aplicacion directa que se apoya en la definicion de un nuevo concepto denominado \u00abfactor de tramo\u00bb. Con ese nuevo concepto definido se consigue que la metodolog\u00eda desarrollada sea independiente de la resistencia de falta, tipo de falta, situacion de prefalta, sincronizacion de los aparatos registradores situados en los extremos de la linea, e independencia de los valores de la intensidad tanto de prefalta como de falta.
