Se han descrito por primera vez 26 alteraciones, entre las que destacan las encontradas en sindromes linfoproliferativos, y una variante de la t(15;17), la t(14;17), en un paciente con m3 que respondio al tratamiento con atra. En las gammapatias monocionales la utilizacion de pokeweed permitio analizar mas de 25 metafases en 89% de los pacientes y detectar alteraciones en 40% de las muestras de mieloma multiple (mm). En 94 pacientes con mm al diagnostico se han detectado dos alteraciones citogeneticas con influencia significativa en el analisis de supervivencia univariante: un cariotipo hipodiploide o reordenaciones 22q se asocian con una supervivencia libre de enfermedad (sle) y supervivencia global (sg) mas corta (p&lt;0,005). El analisis multivariante mostro que la ausencia de hipodiploidia era la variable pronostica mas favorable para la sg (p=0,022), seguida por el estadio&lt;iia, un nivel de calcio en suero menor 11,5 mg\/dl y la ausencia de alteraciones 22q. Del mismo modo, en los pacientes con sindromes mielodisplasicos se observo una sg significativamente menor entre los subgrupos areb(-t) y lmmc (p=0,0156) y entre los que al diagnostico de la enfermedad presentaron reordenaciones -7\/7g (p=0,0241) o un cariotipo hipodiploide (p=0,0241). Segun los resultados del estudio multivariante, las alteraciones cromosomicas significativas en el analisis univariante, estan de alguna forma contenidas en los subgrupos
