Se aislaron clones genomicos especificos bien a partir de una genoteca genomica en cosmido pwe15, bien utilizando el sistema promoterfinder. El gen posee un tama\u00f1o minimo de 35 kpb y contiene al menos diez exones y nueve intrones.  el tama\u00f1o de los exones varia entre 92 y 543 pb mientras que el tama\u00f1o de los intrones esta entre 0,6 y 8 kpb. La estructura genomica del receptor es similar a la de los rars pero con dos diferencias importantes: el sitio de insercion atipico del itron que interrumpe el dominio de union al dina en medio del primer dedo de zinc, y la presencia de un intron mas en las secuencias que codifican el dominio de union al ligando.
