En este comentario recoge literalmente extractos de los comentarios a san pablo realizados en la epoca petristica (origenes, san agustin, el ambrosiaster, san jeronimo) junto a otros autores y aportaciones personales. Este trabajo estudia el contenido antropologico de los comentarios a romanos y galatas. Rabano mantiene en esencia la division tripartita del hombre que hizo origenes. En lo que se refiere al pecado original, a la carne, a la concupiscencia y a la libertad es muy agustiniano.  rechaza las ideas de pelagio sobre el pecado original.  aunque emplea a casiano no hay textos en rabno que expresen semipelagianismo. El hombre en gracia experimenta su transformacion en cristo sobre todo en su mente.
