Los resultados indican que los caracteres morfol\u00f3gicos, de ciclo y de producci\u00f3n de materia seca podr\u00edan seleccionarse directamente, mientras que la producci\u00f3n de materia digestible total podr\u00eda seleccionarse indirectamente a trav\u00e9s del di\u00e1metro en la base del tallo. Un 35% de la variaci\u00f3n fenot\u00edpica de la producci\u00f3n de mazorca es atribuible a la domin\u00e1ncia. Utilizando mejora gen\u00e9tica cl\u00e1sica es dif\u00edcil mejorar la calidad nutritiva de la fracci\u00f3n vegetativa en la poblaci\u00f3n semiex\u00f3tica mo17xacross 8443 la posta.  los efectos rec\u00edprocos no afectan de forma sistem\u00e1tica a los caracteres forrajeros en distintos semiex\u00f3ticos, var\u00edan en cada semiex\u00f3tico, car\u00e1cter as\u00ed como en intensidad.  la producci\u00f3n de mazorca de las progenies de varios cruzamientos ((ex\u00f3tico x adaptado) x ex\u00f3tico) no difiere de la de algunos h\u00edbridos comerciales de ciclo largo.  por todo ello, algunas poblaciones semiex\u00f3ticas pueden ser un buen punto de partida de un programa de mejora gen\u00e9tica dirigido a la obtenci\u00f3n de h\u00edbridos forrajeros de ma\u00edz de ciclo
