Se sit\u00faa as\u00ed en el dise\u00f1o de las llamadas safe molecules, es decir, substratos de dif\u00edcil o imposible nitrosaci\u00f3n.  se han estudiado los mecanismos de n-nitrosaci\u00f3n de piperidina, 2-metilpiperidina, 3-metilpiperidina, 4-metilpiperidina, 3,5-dimetilpiperidina, 2,6-dimetilpiperidina y 2-etilpiperidina. Se ha encontrado una posible v\u00eda de inhibici\u00f3n, e incluso bloqueo, de los correspondientes mecanismos de nitrosaci\u00f3n, dise\u00f1ando el substrato de modo que alg\u00fan grupo alquilo bloquee, por impedimento est\u00e9rico, el ataque del agente nitrosante tri\u00f3xido de dinitr\u00f3geno.  se han estudiado los mecanismos de c-nitrosaci\u00f3n de fenol, o-cresol, m-cresol, p-cresol, 2,3-dimetifenol, 2,6-dimetilfenol, 3,5-dimetilfenol, 3,5-di-tert-butilfenol, o-bromofenol, o-clorofenol, y 2,4,6-trimetilfenol.
