El trabajo se ha concentrado en dos tipos de criostatos: verticales con pantallas anti-radiaci\u00f3n refrigeradas por el vapor de helio proveniente de la evaporaci\u00f3n del helio l\u00edquido que apantallan y horizontales, concretamente el de la unidad principal del gran colisionador de hadrones (lhc) que se encuentra en fase de dise\u00f1o en la organizaci\u00f3n europea para la investigaci\u00f3n nuclear (cern).  el dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n de los criostatos verticales forma parte del proyecto amas500 promovido por asinel.  iberdrola, reesa y uf que tiene como objetivo final la construcci\u00f3n de un sistema de almacenamiento de energ\u00eda en un campo magn\u00e9tico creado por bobinas superconductoras (smes) de 1mj. Antes de lanzarse al dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n del smes de 1mj, se construy\u00f3 un prototipo de smes de 25kj. Para el dise\u00f1o de este criostato, se resolvieron problemas importantes como son la cuantificaci\u00f3n de las p\u00e9rdidas de calor originadas por corrientes inducidas en el recipiente de helio debido a la carga y descarga de la bobina, el an\u00e1lisis de p\u00e9rdidas por radiaci\u00f3n y conducci\u00f3n en funci\u00f3n de las dimensiones del criostato o el c\u00e1lculo mec\u00e1nico y la elecci\u00f3n de las barras de alimentaci\u00f3n de la bobina. En el criostato para este smes se resolvieron la mayor parte de los problemas de dise\u00f1o del criostato del smes de 1mj, no obstante, se estudiaron, en otros criostatos construidos espec\u00edficamente, tres opciones relacionadas conla forma de anclar las pantallas al cuello del criostato y con el tipo de aislamiento para el calor por radiaci\u00f3n.  el trabajo sobre el
