Esta tecnica se ha utilizado para estudiar la distribucion de mao-a y mao-b en cerebro y tejidos perifericos de rata obteniendose una distribucion marcadamente diferente. En cerebro mao-a es el enzima predominante y se localiza principalmente en neuronas noradrenergicas y adrenergicas, mientras que mao-b es especialmente abundante en organos circunventriculares, astrocitos y neuronas serotonergicas e histaminergicas. En procesos de neurodegeneracion como el envejecimiento o un modelo experimental de isquemia e hipoxia se observaron variaciones en mao, con diversos patrones de cambios en las diferentes estructuras cerebrales. El analisis del recambio de mao mostro que tanto mao-a como mao-b presentan un recambio mucho mas rapido en tejidos perifericos que en el cerebro. Ademas de experimentos in vitro se estudio la distribucion de los radioligandos in vivo en vistas a una posible utilizacion de estos radioligandos en tomografia de emision de positrones. Por ultimo se estudio la distribucion de ambos enzimas en el cerebro humano de individuos sin alteraciones neuropatologicas y de enfermos de alzheimer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos
