Aunque la extensi\u00f3n total de la cuenca es de 1295 km2, los trabajos se centraron fundamentalmente en las subcuencas m\u00e1s importantes, -c\u00e1diar, trev\u00e9lez, poqueira, guadalfeo (cerrada en \u00f3rgiva), lanjar\u00f3n, d\u00farcal y izbor- que comprenden una superficie total de 840 km2. El trabajo se ha dividido en dos partes: la primera, que trata de los aspectos generales del \u00e1rea estudiada (geol\u00f3gicos, climatol\u00f3gicos, hidrol\u00f3gicos e hidrogeol\u00f3gicos) y, la segunda, es una modelizaci\u00f3n hidrol\u00f3gica mediante la aplicaci\u00f3n del modelo hspf, elaborado por la epa (ee. Uu). A partir de datos meteorol\u00f3gicos (precipitaci\u00f3n, temperatura, etp, radiaci\u00f3n solar, velocidad del viento y punto de roc\u00edo) y fisiogr\u00e1ficos (topograf\u00eda, litolog\u00eda, vegetaci\u00f3n, uso del suelo, etc.) Se divide el \u00e1rea simulada en unidades de respuesta hidrol\u00f3gica homog\u00e9nea. En este trabajo, han sido simulados los procesos relacionados con la acumulaci\u00f3n y fusi\u00f3n de nieve y el balance h\u00eddrico.  despu\u00e9s de calibrar el modelo para cada subcuenca (per\u00edodo 1986\/87-1988\/89), \u00e9ste ha sido aplicado para un per\u00edodo de verificaci\u00f3n (1989\/90-1992\/93) y se han estimado algunos criterios de verificaci\u00f3n de inter\u00e9s.  los resultados han sido m\u00e1s que aceptables para el \u00e1rea investigada y abren una nueva v\u00eda metodol\u00f3gica a utilizar en la gesti\u00f3n de los recursos h\u00eddricos de esta
